who were those strangers?

who were those "new" players?
unfamiliar players with names like georg, spyder, bob, caesar, fernando and salvatore showed up for a decent 3-2 match. items of note: philippe injures big toe, andrew scores hat trick, and nasser wins loudest "shouter" of the game award.
spyder chips keeper for early blue lead and that's how the first period ended. drew scores nutmeg goal on sal and then one good goal. marco equalized near full time and then young yasno scored golden goal. white captain karl's strategy of using "senior" defenders (robin/juan) paid off. nice work by bob in goal as well.
both teams had trouble shooting or heading on frame. probably 5 minutes lost during each half chasing wide and high shot attempts. oh well, next week shooting percentages are bound to go up...... probably.
special note-- keepers for this match were tony, marco, sal, new brit, joe, bob, kelly and andy. shouldn't they at minimum be second choice if not exempt, to play arquero for next match? (16 of 24 played the field and never went in).
igor not available for next two matches.
have a nice trip back salvatore.

a tale of two halves

khalid equalizes 3 minutes from end of extra period. it appeared that whites' improbable come back after a 3-1 first half would stand up but alas the unpopular 4-4 result. dmitri was put in check only to have junior actually complete his hat trick. ahmad rounded out whites' scoring. bon voyage to bruce from down under and welcome back bierman. nice work put in by andy as well. dearth of volunteers for goalie duty resulted in, once more, yelling and finger pointing. if everyone wishes, referee (me) can keep track of who has and who hasn't done his fair turn in under the arc. also, please arrive on time for the Turkey Day game. 8 am would be nice. We might need a few extra players as well. The game for next Sunday is still on too.

pulmonary insanity

resolute footballers are rarely dissuaded from their regular activities. despite disastrous air quality, elvis' whites ( khalid, oscar, fabrizio, victor, richard, ahmed, juan and dmitri) pull off an astounding 7-3 thrashing. welcome back elvis. most brilliant goal of the match from igor in the second period. no one could thwart his run down the left flank. eluding nearly half the blues, yasno's strike produced a glimmer of hope but alas it was not to be. young andrew scores in the first half and adam produces the second and final mark of the last period.
serious cautions go out to adam and big andrei for their shameful altercation. should have been carded. my bad. and romy left match and game in a huff. was told not to return for next match. everyone call franco to wish him speedy recovery. 345-7295. where are you brian? bierman? steve?

late start/ swallowed whistle

WHAT A MATCH?! White team (andrew, julio, andy, khalid, igor, dmitri, marco, fabrizio, robin, and lawrence) perserveres 6-5 with help from 2 autogoals from Mo and 5 yellow cards to Luciano. Windy conditions and dry hard pitch precluded much brilliant technique but there was no dearth of testerone and foul language. Resolved----- profanity must be from language other than English. Nice to see marwan who looks great as he prepares for 40+ body building competion in near future. Also, if you have time, give Franco a call (345-7295) as he has had an accident that keeps him from his second all time favorite activity. Lastly, try to arrive and be ready to play closer to 8:30 as many players' schedules do not allow late morning matches. Also, we may be back to fewer other players at Pierce because high school season will start soon.

muddy pitch

rain has abated, pitch is "playable" and da boys had a 8-6 good time. brilliant goals by adam (nifty footwork around and thru almost the entire team) and one by karl (intercepting a clearing goalie kick with his body and calmly walking the ball into the net.) honorable mention to oscar for his dominant offensive prowess (4 tallies) your turn to talk trash blues as you played one player down in the first period but still had more possession and control of the ball. omar leaving for lebanon soon, so best wishes and stay safe. see ya soon. ttfn
